Hi there,
My name is Amy. I’m a Vietnamese mom raising two mixed kids in the Pacific Northwest (PNW), where forests, rains, and library visits are just as much a part of our story as Tết, bún bò, and bedtime books in Vietnamese.
When I volunteered with first graders at Vietnamese Language School at St. Anthony (Tigard), I quickly realized that passing on a heritage language isn’t something that happens by accident. It takes intention, patience, creativity, and, most of all, a community. That experience shaped how I’ve approached raising my own children bilingually.
Even then, Vietnamese bilingual parenting isn’t always easy….There isn’t a handbook that fits every family, and many times I’ve found myself figuring things out as I go (or even creating my own answers). And this blog grew from that journey.
Here, you’ll find honest reflections on bilingual parenting, practical resources for raising Vietnamese-speaking children, book recommendations, cultural traditions, and ideas for making Vietnamese a natural part of everyday family life.
My hope is that this space reminds you that you don’t have to do bilingual parenting alone. Whether you’re raising bilingual children, reconnecting with your own heritage, or simply curious about Vietnamese language and culture, I’m happy you’re here.
Let’s learn, grow, and celebrate our heritage together!
